Hawkeye - best of the best

couldn't quite work Hawkeye into this...

...and I didn't put Jubilee on "jubilant" because that would've been too obvious.

oh the weather outside was frightful

Who should play Captain America and Thor?

A friend and I were talking about the recent suggestions for these roles (um, Ben Affleck, WHUT?) and it got me thinking as to who SHOULD be cast in these roles. So I made a poll on my journal, and then it occurred to me that I'd love to know what other comic fans think (as well as the lovely people on my journal). So if you've got an opinion on who should play these guys, feel free to tell me here.

Hello, and other things

Hey all! New poster here. I seem to be spending a lot of money time on comic-y stuff lately, so I figured I'd hunt up some comic comms. As per the user info suggestions, Some Stuff About Me & Comics:

My favorite comic book character is Deadpool, hands down. Why? It would probably take me hours of fangirlish squeeing to go into all the reasons, but, in brief:
a) he's a serious badass, fighting-skills-wise;
b) he's got an interesting but linear (and thus not hard to follow or retconned, for the most part) backstory, which is sufficiently dark and crazy to evince emotions in the reader; and
c) he. is. HILARIOUS. In a very black humorish kind of way, which appeals to me.

That said, I am fairly equal-opportunity when it comes to comics - i.e. I love them all, generally. Consistent fan of Cable and Deadpool, X-Men, Superman, Batman, Spider-man, Iron Man, V for Vendetta, Watchmen, Neil Gaiman's Sandman, etc. Also a fan of the Runaways series so far.

My dad got me into comics inadvertently (though he really never reads them) by being a fan of the old adventure-y shows (Lone Ranger, Green Hornet) and movies (he's a big Superman fan and loves Indiana Jones). I used to watch those with him. Then I watched a lot of the cartoons (Batman animated series, X-Men, etc.). Then I just started picking comics up here and there and am now much poorer for it (money-wise, that is). Hurrah!

Current favorite comic book movie is Iron Man because it was FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC. Also a fan of the X-Men and Spider-man trilogies.

And now, to The Sharing of Things:

1. Due to an offhand suggestion of my boyfriend the other day, I've just started a new journal: ask_deadpool:

Got a question or need advice about life, the universe, or everything? Go ask Deadpool, and he will respond! Possibly not in the way you'd like, but hey, that's the way we roll the dice around here!

2. I Make Icons. Some of them even have comic book folks in them. Check out theiconolatrist for some Deadpool, Wolverine, and Spider-man stuff. I also take requests.

3. I write fanfiction. Or, you know, at least ONE fanfiction. About Deadpool. Read it here.

4. I also talk about comics sometimes. Whee!

And...that's all, folks.

Greetings and Salutations!

New member checking in!

Currently I'm collecting about 90% of DC Comics output, a nice variety of independant publishers titles and virtually nothing from Marvel outside of their collected "Ultimate" universe titles and the Garth Ennis Punisher Max series.

There's a reason for that.

Anyway, here's my reviews for two DC titles that were released over the past few weeks. I'm working on more, but with full-time job, etc finding the time can be tight.

Then again, after reading through these you may be thankful I haven't yet written any more ;)

Super Question!

Okay, I hope someone here might be able to help me. I am working on something, and I would like an official-looking (preferably official that I can Photoshop, or use as a basis of design to build on my own, but at least something that looks vaguely professional) image of a 'certificate'. Not just any certificate, but a sort of "welcome to the supergroup" certificate. I know that, if nothing else, this kind of thing has been used in a Booster Gold comic, later turning into a different sort of certificate after stuff happens. But anyway, I don't know how I would go about finding such images, as aside from Booster Gold, I wouldn't even know what series/groups have used this sort of thing in comics before. Preferably a Marvel or DC-based group that really exists, though if I have to, I'd be willing to just create a random group that doesn't exist if I can find a certificate to base things off of. Anyone have any idea where I can start, or better yet pictures I could use?
